Join us for a transformative 14-day Māori bodywork wānanga (training workshop) in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Step into the sacred world of Māori healing arts with an immersive experience guided by kaupapa Māori (Māori principles and values). This wānanga will introduce you to the traditional practices of:
Romiromi – deep tissue and spiritual bodywork
Tiwawe – energetic alignment techniques
Mahi ā Pona – working with the joints and bones
Mahi Waewae – therapeutic use of the feet
Mahi Rākau – healing with traditional tools and rākau (wooden implements)
You’ll be guided by experienced Māori practitioners and kaumātua (elders), who will share their mātauranga tuku iho(ancestral knowledge) in a safe and supportive environment.
This 14-day journey includes:
Full training in foundational and advanced Māori bodywork techniques
Cultural immersion – learn tikanga (customs), karakia (prayers), waiata (songs), and te reo Māori (language)
Shared accommodation at a marae (tribal meeting house) – live and learn in a community setting
Most meals provided, prepared in accordance with tikanga
Sacred site visits, which may include Te Rerenga Wairua (Cape Reinga) – the departing place of spirits
Time with respected Māori healers and elders, receiving insights and storytelling passed down through generations
No prior experience is necessary. This workshop is open to all – whether you are new to bodywork or an experienced healer, you will be supported to learn from the ground up.
